History
Following the 2004 European Congress on Psoriasis in Paris, many participants seemed very interested in setting up psoriasis national groups.
The founding meeting of the international psoriasis network was held in Paris (Nov 18, 2005) between the countries willing to develop such national psoriasis groups and willing to connect these groups in an international network.
11 countries were able to send a representative and 9 additional countries have expressed a strong interest but were unable to come. The President of the EUROpean associations for PSOriasis patients (EUROPSO) participated as well.
To liven up this international network, it was proposed to:
- set up this website
- organize every 3 years an International Congress on Psoriasis in Paris
- publish a newsletter coming soon!

How to create a national psoriasis group?
Suggestions made at the International Psoriasis Network founding meeting, November 18, 2005
A national psoriasis group is a task force composed by dermatologists interested in psoriasis, whether from public or private practice, depending on the country.
National psoriasis groups develop various activities, such as clinical or therapeutical studies, national and international surveys, national guidelines, discussion on the good use of treatments, yearly national meetings, information to the patients, experience sharing at the International Psoriasis Congress.
The choice between a more formal or informal structure or type of organization will largely depend on the legal framework and tradition of each country. Here you can find some examples of how a psoriasis national group can be set up.
On an informal basis: a group of friends that start up a working group on psoriasis
On a formal basis:
- contact all dermatologists in your country and survey their interest in being part of a work group on psoriasis
- organise a national meeting to discuss the goals of the group, set up the agenda and schedule the actions to take
- seek some official recognition and contact the respective national society of dermatology to form a specific psoriasis work group within its structure.
Please notice that in any case, some form of official recognition is useful to obtain proper funding for the envisaged actions.

How does Psoriasis-international.org work?
Psoriasis-international.org offers you several services:
This portal is the main section of the website. It fosters the websites of national psoriasis medical groups and of patient associations. Also, it allows those groups or associations that don’t have a website of their own, to create one for free.
The creation and administration of the site must be assigned to a webmaster of your choice, who may well be a member of your psoriasis group or association. The important is that he or she is able to manage and liven it. To proceed to the creation of your own website, please visit the "Country Sites" section and follow the instructions.
The portal of national sites gives you general information about the countries which are part of the network and it aims at:
- Fostering connection into each country between dermatologists and patients,
- Making easier to share information and to engage collaborations between countries.
To design and manage your own website, please use the website engine.
The website engine is a tool designed for your national psoriasis medical group and for your support association. The website engine will guide you to build a website in your national language or to create a link with your pre-existent website.
