Symposium of Psoriasis and Pshycodermatology - SOLAPSO
2011/11/16 - News from medical groupsSymposium of Psoriasis and Pshycodermatology - SOLAPSO (Latin American Society of Psoriasis)
In June 25, 2011, the 1st Symposium of Psychodermatology and Psoriasis was held at the National Academy of Medicine in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The session was opened with a report from Dr. Laura Weintraub mentioning that, according to a survey carried by SOLAPSO’s Psychodermatology Commission among the society’s members, over 92% of the surveyed professionals consider that emotional factors intervene in the triggering, development and improvement of the illness. However, 46% of them evoked some difficulties in working within an interdisciplinary context.
Patricia Mirochnik highlighted the importance of working with a comprehensive focus acknowledging the understanding of psoriatic patients, categorising indicators and criteria for psychotherapeutic derivation and objectives. She described moreover the most frequent obstacles with an influence in the doctor-patient relation and in working together.
Dr. José Bonet reviewed the issue of the integrated functioning of the neuro-immuno-endocrino systems in which emotions, cognition and memories participate as components. He explained the comprehensive physiopathology which accounts that psoriasis, as other skin diseases, can be the cause and/or the consequence of the adaptive immune-inflammatory response.
Dr. Marcela Lustia presented a dissertation on indicators of quality of life in psoriasis.
The event comprised also the presentation of five clinical cases of hospital and private centres, of both adult and paediatric patients. Each clinical case was co-presented by a dermatologist and a psychologist, showing a comprehensive approach meaning to favour the development and the compliance to the medical treatment, thus benefiting the disease evolution, and sustaining our conviction in the benefits of interdisciplinary work.
SOLAPSO’s Psychodermatology and Psoriasis Commission is formed by dermatologists, psychiatrists and psychologists: Miriam Saposnik - Laura Weintraub – Irene Dabbah - Marcela Lustia – Eugenia Melamed - Patricia Mirochnik - Monica Czerlowski - Deborah Meilerman. www.solapso.org
